COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, JULY 5, 2012
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Hicksville Village Council Room,
Hicksville, Ohio. Chairman Thomas L.
Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved two Ohio Public Works Commission Project
Grant Agreements for the Local Transportation Improvement Program. One is for
the Banner School Road Widening Project in the amount of $203,096.00. This is
to widen Banner School Road between Carpenter Road and Domersville Road and
between Adams Ridge Road and Independence Road. Estimated cost of this project
is $403,193.00. The second one is for the Flory Road and Watson Road Widening
Project in the amount of $254,158.00. This is to widen Watson Road between SR
15 and Fullmer Road and Flory Road between Stever Road and Christy Road.
Estimated cost of this project is $508,316.00. Construction for these projects
will not be until 2013.
Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the
Board to provide her weekly update with various department and project updates. Laura provided the following updates:
Wastewater
Operations: Greg Reinhart reported that Tresslers
and Ney Oil have been doing a great job providing service when needed for the
Auglaize River Sewer power outage.
Maintenance:
Ron Cereghin reported the following projects were completed: installed a new
air conditioner in the Delaware Township tower building for the Sheriff’s
office (the heat in the building was affecting communications); cleaned up
debris from the weather, painted the back room in Adult Probation.
Niki Warncke, Maumee Valley Planning
Organization, met with the Commissioners for a Public Hearing to amend the
Fiscal Year 2010 Community Development Block Grant Formula Allocation Program. Defiance County appropriated funds under the
FY 2010 CDBG Formula Program for three (3) projects. As one of the projects will not be completed
by the extended deadline of June 30, 2012, the Commissioners approved requesting
to move those funds to another project in the program.
Defiance VFW Board members met with the Commissioners to discuss the
building and grounds.
The Commissioners transferred the property
located at 313 North Main Street, Hicksville to the Village of Hicksville. This
property was purchased, and structure demolished for the Neighborhood
Stabilization Program. The property must be maintained by the Village of
Hicksville as a public space (i.e.: a public/community park, green space,
gardens, gazebo, etc.).
