DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JULY 9, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk.   

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

During General Session, the Commissioners discussed the Homestead Exemption for people 65 and older for $25,000 off market value of property.  Apply at the Defiance County Auditor’s office by October 1, 2007 for exemption.

 

During Session, the Commissioners accepted the resignation of Dennis McKay, Director of the Defiance County Job & Family Services.  The Commissioners also approved the Defiance and Williams Counties WIA Youth Program between the Defiance County Department of Job & Family Services and Four County Career Center for services to approximately 100 youth ages 14-21 through one-stop centers in Defiance and Williams counties. 

 

The Commissioners approved a Revolving Loan Fund Agreement with Northwest Custom Mechanical, LLC.  Defiance County is prepared to offer a Revolving Loan Fund loan to Northwest Custom Mechanical, LLC in the amount of $50,000.00 provided all requirements in the Defiance County Revolving Loan Fund Program Guidelines are met. 

 

Bob Arend of Arend Enterprises met with the Board to update the Commissioners on the recent conversion to replace Defiance County’s central system.  Mr. Arend reported that the conversion is complete and up and running.

 

Jerry Hayes, Economic Developer, Dennis Miller, Director of Maumee Valley Planning Organization, and guest, Larry Plummer, R&L Enterprises met with the Board to review questions requested from

a proposed distribution center that is considering locating in Defiance County.
