DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JULY 16, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Vice-Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk.   

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

During General Session, the Commissioners, upon the recommendation of the Defiance County Engineer, awarded the 2007 Guardrail Installation Bid to Lake Erie Construction Co. of Norwalk, OH in the amount bid by them of $28,175.00.

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners to update the Board on pending issues at the Prosecutor’s office. 

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for his weekly update.  Warren reported that the Engineer’s office is currently working on three projects:  1.  Huber Road between Cicero Road and Lake Road for a bridge replacement and closed starting June 20, 2007 for approximately 6-8 weeks.  2.  Casebeer-Miller Road South of Hicksville-Spencerville Road for a bridge replacement and closed starting July 9, 2007 until approximately August 30, 2007.  Work was contracted to R.G. Zachrich Construction.  3.  Bostater Road between Mulligans Bluff Road and The Bend Road also for a bridge replacement and closed starting July 9, 2007 for approximately 30 days.  Also, Harding Road between Watson Road and the Auglaize River Bridge has been closed since June 4, 2007 until approximately August 30, 2007 for a road reconstruction project.  Work was contracted to Ward Construction.

 

During Study Session, the Commissioners discussed options to remodel offices at the Courthouse and the Annex Building.  The Commissioners also met with Jerry Overmier, Beilharz Architects, Inc., Karen Tubbs, County Treasurer, Jane Tadsen, County Recorder and Jean Ziegler, Clerk of Courts during Study Session and discussed their space needs.
