DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners approved a Delinquent Debt Collection Agreement between the Ohio Attorney General and Defiance County Clerk of Court and Defiance County Probate and Juvenile Court.

 

The Commissioners’ Office received notification from Matt Davis, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, that Defiance County was awarded $181,089.00 in the Moving Ohio Forward Demolition Grant Program. A Lead Entity Contract needs to be completed and submitted by the Commissioners’ Office. These funds are available for the demolition of blighted properties in Defiance County. The program completion date is December 31, 2013.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Commissioners to provide her weekly update. 

 

Corey Walker, Defiance County Job & Family Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

On Tuesday, the Commissioners attended the 2012 Public Officials’ Tour hosted by Defiance County Soil and Water.  The tour was of 32 sites that utilize various conservation throughout the County. The tour included eight CRP sites, four ditch projects, Penney Nature Center, Consolidated Grain and Barge Terminal, Auglaize Village, City of Defiance Reservoir, Defiance Water Treatment Plant, Municipal Court and Defiance Annex Building Rain Gardens, Clinton Street Pervious Concrete, two township site review properties, and the Wal-Mart Tiffin River Mitigation Site.
