DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JULY 23, 2012

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren informed the Commissioners that all the road widening is in. Glenburg Road has been paved and bermed. Hammersmith Road was scheduled to be paved and bermed Friday and Monday, but was cancelled due to rain. Breckler Road and Elliott Road will follow Hammersmith Road. Roadside grading work is being performed on Williams Road.

 

Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update. Tina informed the Commissioners that the Ice Cream Social is Thursday, August 2nd at the UAW Park. Dinner will begin at 5:00 p.m. The Bud Widmer Rube Band will perform beginning at 6:00 p.m.

 

Vickie Myers, Defiance County Treasurer, Amy Galbraith, Defiance County Clerk of Courts, and Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for the 2nd Quarter Investment Advisory Meeting. The Defiance County Investment Portfolio, Landfill Closure Portfolio and Post Closure Portfolio were approved.

 

Julie Voll, Defiance County Family and Children First Council/Help Me Grow, met with the Commissioners to discuss office space. Julie informed the Commissioners that beginning January 1, 2012, her office will be located in the Health Department.

 

Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder, met with the Commissioners to inform them that due to increased work, she has added a casual/intermittent employee to assist as needed.
