RELEASE
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on
Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance
County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512. Commissioner Otto L. Nicely called the
meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner,
General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various
resolutions and documents for approval. The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and
discussed upcoming meetings and events.
During General Session, the Board of Defiance County Commissioners, upon the recommendation of Lisa Karcher, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, awarded the Defiance Senior Center Meal Delivery Vehicle Bid to Mark Moats Ford, Inc. in the amount of $28,787.00.
Also during Session, the Commissioners approved the hiring of Jack Graf as Director of the Defiance County Job and Family Services effective July 26, 2007. Mr. Graf is currently the Interim Director.
The Commissioners were notified by the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. (AOoA) that Defiance County Senior Services has been awarded $274,272.88 in funds administered by the AOoA for the Program Year January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. During Session, the Commissioners approved the Notification of Grant Award.

The Commissioners took the bids under advisement for further
consideration and an award will be made at a later date.
Becky Wagner,
Tim Houck, Landfill Director, submitted his monthly financial report for
revenue & expenses for the Landfill.
The sales summary total for June is $370,344.48. The annual tons total to date is 55,696.80
and the total annual cubic yards are 231,388.
Tim also reported the yearly/monthly cubic yards comparison for 2007 is
49,207 vs. 35,026 for this same time in 2006.
The yearly/monthly tons comparison submitted for 2007 was 10,496.84 tons
vs. 11,941.13 tons in 2006. Leachate
monthly gallon total for the month of June is 208,677.
Ken Keller, First Insurance & Investments, was in to review the six
month report for the Health Insurance.
The Commissioners attended the Defiance County Planning Commission
Meeting at the Defiance County East Complex.
After the meeting, the Commissioners met with the Auglaize County
Commissioners at the Economic Development Office to discuss Community
Improvement Corporation.
