DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Commissioners to provide her weekly update. 

 

Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for an update. Tim reported that for the 2011/12 school year recycling program there was 29,590# of recycling taken in. The County Road Litter Collection has collected on 463.50 miles to date. Tim reported total sales of $232,453.03 from 25,137 cubic yards and 7,424.52 tons compared to $299,085.92 from 34,055 cubic yards and 10,001.45 tons in June, 2011.

 

Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, met with the Commissioners for an update. Randy reported investigating 161 calls during the month of June that resulted in 20 dogs taken to the shelter, 40 warnings issued and 37 citations written. There was 3,598 miles driven and $750.00 received in Municipal Court fines. Year to date collected for dog tag sales is $84,700.00, which is an increase of $110.00 from 2011.
