DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JULY 30, 2012

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Julie Voll, Defiance County Family & Children First/Help Me Grow, met with the Commissioners for an update. Julie reported that she has completed & submitted SFY 2013 Operational Capacity Building Funds application and the SFY 2013 Assurance Statement for Family Centered Services & Supports funding. The Ohio Children's Trust Fund SFY 2012 report regarding child abuse & neglect prevention awareness was submitted.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren informed the Board that the paving on Breckler Road is completed. The contractor is now paving Elliott Road. The Bend Road Bridge over Mud Creek is currently being replaced. Roadside grading work continues on Williams Road and Banner School Road.

 

Judge Strausbaugh, Defiance County Probate/Juvenile Court, and Mick Procratsky and Jan Lauro, Juvenile Probation, met with the Commissioners to discuss the RECLAIM grant. The 2012 RECLAIM grant was $68,378.00. This funding was utilized for work detail, monitor/surveillance, residential treatment (placement), clinical assessment, and program administration. There is currently an average of 150 juveniles per month seen by Juvenile Probation.

 

The Commissioners attended the Four County Solid Waste District Board of Directors Meeting.
