DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JULY 31, 2008

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Joanne Goerlitz, Acting Clerk.

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents, travel requests, reviewed agenda items and the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Commissioners for her weekly update. Laura updated the Commissioners on maintenance projects and reviewed First Insurance & Investments six month review from January, 2008 through June, 2008 for Defiance County health insurance coverage with the Board. During the meeting, the Commissioners approved signage to be placed at the Courthouse to direct the public who are in need of an ADA accessible restroom that it is located in the Commissioners’ building at 500 Court Street.

Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Manager, met with the Board for his monthly update. Mr. Houck submitted his monthly financial report for revenue & expenses for the Landfill to the Board. The sales summary total for June 2008 was $263,881.28. The annual tons total to date is 8,142.58 and the annual cubic yards are 32,448. Mr. Houck also reported the yearly/monthly cubic yards comparison for June 2008 is 32,448 vs. 49,207 for this same time in 2007. The yearly monthly tons comparison submitted for June 2008 was 8,142.58 tons vs. 10,496.84 tons in June 2007. Leachate monthly gallon total for the month of June was 160,690.
