DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, AUGUST 6, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Monday, August 6, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, County Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for the 2007 Bulk Ice Control Salt Bid Opening. The following bids were received: Cargill incorporated Deicing Technology Business Unit, North Olmsted, OH for $40.08 per ton; Morton Salt, Chicago, IL for $46.59 per ton; North American Salt Co., A Compass Minerals Co., Overland Park, KS for $41.38 per ton; and Detroit Salt Co., Detroit, MI for $45.18 per ton. After the bids were opened, the Commissioners took the bids under advisement. The county engineer will review the bids. Award will be made at a later date.

 

Tom Boals, Recovery Services of NWO; Jason George, Peck, Shaffer & Williams; Kenneth Bond, Recovery Services of NWO; Sue Wines, National City Bank and Ruth Peck, Recovery Services of NWO, met with the Commissioners on the matter of the Issuance and Sale of Health Care Facilities Revenue Bonds, not to exceed $1,500,000.

 

Tim Houck, Director of Environmental Services, James Mosley, The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc., and Steve Sieracke, Melco, Inc. met with the Commissioners to provide an update on the landfill construction project. The project is currently on schedule.

 

Tina Hiler, Director of Senior Services invited the Seniors and the public to the Ice Cream Social on August 9, 2007 from 3:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. The Seniors and the public were also invited to the Breakfast and Bake Sale at the Senior Center on August 10, 2007 at 7:00a.m.

 

The Commissioners held a study session and discussed the house numbering system of Defiance County and renaming the old section of Elliott Road.
