DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Commissioners to provide her weekly update.  Laura provided the Commissioners with various department and project updates including:

            Records Center Six-Month trend, January through June, 2012: During the first six months of 2012, the Records Center staff filled 1,792 records requests compared to 1,016 requests for 2011. Deposits made for these requests totaled $722.46. The Records Center staff indexed and scanned 3,543 images and produced 113 rolls of microfilm.

            Maintenance: Ron Cereghin reported that the Maintenance Department installed suspended ceilings in four of the Sheriff’s restrooms, shampooed carpets at the Senior Center and the Sheriff’s Office, installed the overhead door on the potato building at Evergreen Lane Office Complex, and is in the process of removing trash and cleaning up buildings at Evergreen Lane Office Complex. The Defiance County East trail was also sprayed for weeds.

 

Julie Rittenhouse, Defiance County Public Safety Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update. Julie reported the following: CERT Quarterly training was held with on the topic of Fire Extinguisher training; the Sheriff's Office held Meth Lab training at the EMA office; we completed the last of the CPR trainings for county employees.

 

Kelly Lowry, CompManagement, met with the Commissioners to review the current Workers Compensation Plan and the options the County has for the 2013 plan year.
