The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2010 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman James E. Harris,
Jr. called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners Thomas L.
Kime and Otto L. Nicely, Stephanie Metz,
Clerk and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with
the Commissioners for an update.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren informed the Board that the chip seal
contractor is back in the County and should finish tomorrow. They will then move on to the fog seal
work. Once the fog seal is completed,
the pavement marking contractor will complete their work. Warren stated that there is currently
approximately 1,900 tons of salt in the barn for the winter season. Roadside
grading is continuing on Glenburg Road south of
Defiance-Williams County Line Road, Moser Road South of Defiance-Henry County
Line Road, Farmer-Mark Road north of SR 18 and may continue on Casebeer-Miller
Road north of Defiance-Paulding County Line Road.
Janet
Dunbar-Davis, Juvenile/Probate Court, met with the Commissioners to discuss
quotes to begin receiving electronic payments.
The Commissioners authorized Janet to proceed with the process to begin
receiving electronic payments in their office utilizing, Official Payments, the
same company that the Defiance County Treasurer is currently using.
Dennis Miller,
Maumee Valley Planning Organization met with the Commissioners for two public
hearings to allow residents and other interested citizens the opportunity to
voice opinions and views regarding the amendment of the proposed rules and regulations
developed by the Defiance County Commissioners, governing land use, building of
structures, and construction in the unincorporated areas in designated flood
zones of Defiance County, Ohio. Dennis
reviewed the changes to the flood plain maps and regulations. There was no public in attendance at the
meetings. The Commissioners approved the
revised maps and regulations. For any

Matt Davis, Maumee
Valley Planning Organization, met with the Commissioners for an update on the
Brownfield grant project. The
Commissioners approved two work orders for Phase I studies 1307 Baltimore and
1357 Baltimore.
Judge Strausbaugh,
Juvenile/Probate Court, and Tammy Renollet, Defiance
County Bar Association President, met with the Commissioners to discuss Pro Se
Clinic. The Clinic will be held monthly
during the day to help people who would like to do their own filings.
