COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2012
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:30
a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’
Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called
the meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell,
Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar
of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Laura Howell,
Administrator, met with the Board to provide her weekly update with various
department and project updates. Laura provided the following updates:
Maintenance:
Ron Cereghin reported that Maintenance has been working on the Emergency
Management Agency Building siding, sprayed weeds at the Senior Center and
Sauers Avenue property fences, installed four new ovens and two new faucets at
the Senior Center and set up the County Fair displays for the County Government
Building.
Child Support Enforcement Agency: The
Defiance County Child Support Agency provided the following report for July,
2012: Collections totaled $565,331; expenditures totaled $51,511.76; caseload
of 2,889. Administrative fees for the agency totaled $11,029.90; Cash medical
collections: $659.52. Sandy Schappert reported that for the Federal Fiscal year
through July, 2012, collections on current support have increased 1.26% and
collections on arrears only cases have increased 1.00% from the same time
period in the prior fiscal year.
The Commissioners attended the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce Back to
School Breakfast at the Hicksville School.
