DEFIANCE
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2012
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called
the meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell,
Administrator, and Stephanie Metz Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved
a request from the Defiance County Dog Warden to raise the dog tag license fees
beginning December 1, 2012. This request is
due to the increase in price of fuel and cost of required implementation of HB 14, Dangerous and Vicious dog law, for both the Dog
Warden’s Office and the Auditor’s Office. Beginning December 1, 2012, the dog
tag license fee will increase from $14.00 per tag to $16.00 per tag; kennel
fees will increase from $70.00 to $80.00.
Vickie Myers, Defiance County Treasurer, met with the Commissioners to
discuss her budget. She will continue to review her budget and will meet with
the Commissioners before the end of the year if necessary.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer,
met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren informed the Commissioners
that widening work for Krouse Road began on Friday.
Contractors are continuing the work on The Bend Road Bridge, Chip Sealing and Microsurfacing. Ditch relocation work continues on The Bend
Road near Motter Road and Garden Ridge clean up
continues.
Ken Keller, First Insurance & Investments, met with the
Commissioners for an update on the County employee health insurance plan.
