DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2012

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Board to provide her weekly update with various department and project updates. Laura provided the following department updates:

            Help Me Grow/Family & Children First Council: Julie Voll reported that the new rules for Help Me Grow, including the changes to EarlyTrak, became effective September 4, 2012.

            Maintenance:  Ron Cereghin reported the following items being completed: replace the lower siding on the Emergency Management Agency Building; strip and wax floors at Evergreen Lane Office Complex; install overhead door on an outbuilding at the Evergreen Lane Office Complex.

 

Laura informed the Commissioners that Matt Davis stated that contracts have been signed and notices to proceed issued to Sines Excavating for the demolition of two residences (one at 1988 West Street in Evansport and one at 8097 Independence Road in Jewell) through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

 

Laura informed the Commissioners that foundation work has begun on the building at the Auglaize River Sewer Lagoons. She stated that there are still six residences not connected to the Auglaize River Sewer System.

 

On Wednesday, the Commissioners attended the Defiance Chamber Panel Discussion with the new Chamber members and the City of Defiance Board of Control. 

 

On Saturday, the Commissioners will be attending the 63rd Annual Defiance County Soil & Water Conservation District’s Banquet at the Hicksville School.
