DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Monday, September 10, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Becky Wagner, Administrator, Cara Brown, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, met with the Commissioners and provided an update on pending legal issues in the Prosecutor’s office.

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on projects in the Engineer’s office. Weather permitting, Harding Road may be re-opened some time this week. The Beerbower Road bridge work is going well. Warren also advised that their office has received a few reports of damaged roads from trucks hauling silage. These reports are being looked into.

 

Jeff Strausbaugh, Prosecuting Attorney and Sally King, Sarah’s House, met with the Commissioners to discuss money for insurance for employees. The Commissioners have authorized $3,500.00 to be allocated to Sarah’s House to help cover the cost for health insurance for employees.

 

Jeff Strausbaugh, Prosecuting Attorney, Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and Jack Graf, Director of Human Services, met with the Commissioner in Executive Session to discuss a personnel contract. Executive Session ended with no decision being made.

 

The Commissioners along with Jeff Strausbaugh, Prosecuting Attorney, Russ Herman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and Jack Graf , Director of Human Services, met in Executive Session to discuss pending litigation. Executive Session ended with no decision being made.

 

Nancy Porter, Humane Society President, Lisa Fortner, Animal Shelter Director, and Ron Cereghin, Maintenance Supervisor met with the Commissioners to discuss projects and/or repairs that need to be completed. The walkway at the back of the building to the dog run will have asphalt shavings added.

 

Cheryl Brown, Defiance County Horse Council, and Ron Cereghin, Maintenance Supervisor met with the Commissioners to discuss the 4-H Horse barn roof at the Fairgrounds. Ron advised that he is still waiting for a few estimates on the cost to repair the roof.
