COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2012
The
Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on
Monday, September 10, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office
at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called
the meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator,
and Stephanie Metz Clerk.
The
Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various
resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The
Commissioners certified the August Solid Waste Disposal Submittal Forms for the
Landfill facilities. Defiance Township, as the host government agency received
$2,011.68.
Nathan
Guilford met with the Commissioners to discuss the farm contract with him for
the Evergreen Lane farm. The Commissioners approved continuing the farm
contract for an additional three years.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with
the Commissioners for an update and bid opening. Warren opened the bids for SR
2/West High Street Turn Lane. The Engineer’s estimate is $305,000.00. This
project is a Village of Hicksville project. The bids were only opened during
the Commissioners’ session; all other actions will be taken by the Village of
Hicksville. Warren informed the Commissioners that the chip seal contractor is
now working in Adams Township. They will continue to Richland Township,
Highland Township and Noble Township. Microsurfacing
work is continuing. The Bend Road bridge embankment work is completed. The
north side road has the stone down. Beams will be set on Monday. There has been
approximately 14 miles of roadside ditch grading work completed this year. Work
at Garden Ridge is progressing. Work at the railroad crossing on Krouse Road needs completed before the paving work begins. Warren
presented his Accumulated Revenue Report for August 2012, which is
$2,733,358.54 compared to $2,718,321.99 in 2011.
Greg Reinhart, Wastewater Operations, met with the
Commissioners for an update. Greg reported the following being completed during
August: removed sludge and unplugged sludge return line at Middle Gordon Creek,
replaced air pump at Defiance Metal Products pump station for level controller,
painted the electric control box at the EMA pump station, pulled blower motor
at Evansport to be rebuilt, cleaned out pumps at Auglaize River Sewer pump
station #7, pulled grinder on Switzer Road, pulled grinder on Ralston Ave. to
be rebuilt. In August there was $59,178.34 billed out, $82,824.03 collected and
expenses of $34,689.10.
Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder, recently
submitted the report for activity during August, 2012. The total instruments
filed were: deeds- 171; mortgages – 217; other liens – 7; releases – 223; power
of attorney – 8; leases – 1. Total receipts were $31,821.50, of which
$15,661.50 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $13,716.00 went to the General
Fund.
On
Tuesday, the Commissioners will be attending the grand opening for FWT, LLC. This is a private, invitation-only event.
