DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Thursday, September 20, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas Kime and James Harris, Jr., Cara Brown, Clerk and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

An operations update was given by the Commissioner’s staff. Ron Cereghin, Maintenance Supervisor, has requested to purchase a welder for the maintenance department. The Commissioners authorized Ron to go ahead with the purchase.

 

The Commissioners approved the hiring of Laura Howell for the position of County Operations Manager / Administrator. Laura’s start date will be October 15, 2007.

 

Randy Vogel, Dog Warden, presented his monthly update to the Board. For the month of August, his office received 143 complaints. Of these complaints, 87 were within the City. There were 24 citations and 26 warnings issued and 29 dogs were taken to the shelter.

 

Jerry Hayes, Director of Economic Development, and Isaac Lee, Assistant Director, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Enterprise Zone Agreement Amendments that were recommended by the Tax Incentive Review Council (TIRC). The Commissioners requested that Isaac set up another meeting for the TIRC before accepting the amendments.

 

The Commissioners will be attending an informational meeting on Lick Creek at Williams County Commissioners’ office given by the Joint Board of Soil & Water of Defiance and Williams County.
