DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2008
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2008 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
The Wayne Olson and Pamela Schroeder, Defiance County Board of Elections, met with the Commissioners to discuss the upcoming election funding. The Defiance County Board of Elections is requesting an additional funding of $10,000.00 for the November 4, 2008 General Presidential Election and the remainder of 2008 for supplies, advertising and printing.
Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren informed the Commissioners that it appears from the preliminary figures that all six of the projects submitted to OPWC (Ohio Public Works Commission) have been accepted and received partial funding. The projects accepted are: Defiance County Culvert Replacement, Defiance County Cement Stabilization of Various Roads, Defiance County, in conjunction with City of Defiance, Elliott Road and Clinton Street Intersection, Hicksville Village Whitten Avenue Sewer Replacement, Sherwood Village Wastewater Pump Station Replacement and Defiance City Holiday Inn Pump Station Relocation.
