DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2012

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Otto L. Nicely, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Laura Howell, Administrator, met with the Board to provide her weekly update with various department and project updates. Laura provided the following department updates:

CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT AGENCY: Sandy Schappert reported that at the end of August for Federal Fiscal year 2012, Child Support collections on current support cases were up 1.38% and collections on cases in arrears were up 2.00%. 

MAINTENANCE: Ron Cereghin reported that Maintenance is prepping the Courthouse boiler for use. They have repaired the lawn on the East side of the Senior Center parking lot and are continuing to work on the Records Center restroom.

 

Ken Keller, First Insurance & Investments, met with the Commissioners to provide 6 month and 8 month reviews of the Employee Health Insurance. In 2013, the County Employee Health Insurance switched to a new provider. At six months, there has been a savings of $266,189.36 over 2012.

 

On Friday, October 5, 2012, the Commissioners will attend the LEPC meeting at the Defiance County EMA Building.

 

On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Preble County Commissioners met with the Defiance County Commissioners to discuss various operational topics. Preble County Commissioners were also provided a tour of the Defiance County Landfill.
