DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2009

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman James E. Harris, Jr. called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, Stephanie Metz, Clerk, and Lanie Miller, Deputy Clerk. 

 

Morris Murray, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for his weekly update.  Warren informed the Commissioners that Behnfeldt Road north of Buckskin Road had been closed for a bridge replacement, but was opened on Friday.  The section of Fountain Street Road that had roadside grading performed has been seeded.  Rosedale Road south of SR 18 has had the roadside graded and has also been seeded.  The Pavement Marking contractor may begin work by the end of the week.

 

Julie Voll and Beth Foreman met with the Commissioners to provide an update for Family & Children First Council & Help Me Grow.  Julie introduced the new Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center Early Childhood Coordinator for Defiance County-Jeni Klausing.  Beth Foreman informed the Board that the caseloads for September 2009 are 35 At-risk and 48 Part C, compared to 58 At-risk and 42 Part C for September 2008.

 

Karen Tubbs, Defiance County Treasurer, and Marlene Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor, met with the Commissioners to renew the Black Ditch Bond Anticipation Note in the amount of $150,000.00.

 

Cindy Mack, Defiance Development & Visitors Bureau, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on Auglaize Village.
