DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2007

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session on  Monday, October 22, 2007  8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Defiance County Commissioners, 500 Court Street, Defiance, OH 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Thomas L. Kime and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator,  Cara Brown, Clerk, and Joanne Goerlitz, Deputy Clerk.       

 

General Session – The Commissioners were presented with various resolutions and documents for approval.  The Commissioners reviewed agenda items, and discussed upcoming meetings and events.

 

Jerry Overmier, Beilharz Architects, met with the Commissioners to discuss the 4-H Horse barn roof at the Defiance County Fairgrounds. Jerry advised that there are several areas of the barn that need fixed. The Commissioners would like get more information before making a decision on fixing the roof.

 

Warren Schlatter, County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide an update. Warren advised that Williams Center Cecil Road, south of Blosser Road is now open. Crews will now begin working on the log jam and debris removal on the Bend Road bridge piers. Warren also advised that their office hopes to receive the first shipment of salt the first week of November so they can be ready for the Winter season.

 

The Commissioners attended the Four County Solid Waste District Meeting at Fulton County Commissioners office. Immediately following was a meeting to discuss forming a Regional Port Authority with the surrounding counties – Defiance, Henry, Fulton, Paulding.

 

The Final Hearing date for the Farmer-Mark Ditch Tile will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Farmer Fire Hall.
