Morris Murray, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, and Russ Herman,
Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update
on various pending legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners awarded the Ridge Ditch #99-13 to Zenz
Farms, Inc. in the amount bid by them of $48,374.00 and the St. Mike Tile
#99-13 to Matt Crum Excavating in the amount bid by them of $16,470.00. The bids
came in approximately 23% below estimates.
Julie Voll, Defiance County Family & Children First, met with the
Commissioners for an update. Julie stated that the Community Health Assessment
has been released. The Community Health Partners are holding meetings to review
and analyze the data to be used in the Community Health Improvement Plan.
The Commissioners attended the Four County Solid Waste District Board
of Directors meeting at Fulton County Commissioners’ Office. They met with
Senator Hite and Chase Francis, from the Governor’s Office, to discuss solid
waste legislation, in particular HB 592 and its
effects on our local solid waste district. Both Senator Hite and Chase Francis
agreed to take our message to the State and work with us on our issues. HB 592 may work for the larger counties, but it does not
work well for the smaller counties like Defiance, Fulton, Paulding, and
Williams, along the Indiana border.
