DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2012

 

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk. 

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners approved an additional $50,000.00 donation to the Fair Foundation for the Grandstand Project. The Commissioners originally donated $100,000.00 during the construction project. The Commissioners are continuing to work with the Fair Foundation on the future restroom facilities.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren stated that they are continuing to prepare for the snow plow season.

 

Matt Gilroy, Defiance County Airport Board, met with the Commissioners for an update. Matt Gilroy requested assistance from the Commissioners regarding a 90/10 match grant from the FAA. The money will need to be expensed in 2013; however reimbursement will not be received until 2014. The Commissioners agreed to advance the necessary money for the grant, once the final amount is determined.

 

Marlene Goodwin, Defiance County Auditor, Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update. The 2013 dog tags will be available for purchase beginning December 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013.
