The Board of
Tina Hiler, Senior Services Director, met with the Commissioners to
discuss grants for Senior Services. Tina advised that for 2008 Transportation,
Socialization, Health Assessments and Alzheimer’s Programming, Defiance County
Senior Services has been awarded $77,161.00. Defiance County Senior Services
has also been awarded $274,272.88 for the 2008 Nutrition program.
Laura Howell, Administrator, presented her report to the Commissioners.
Laura advised that the Law books in the Law Library are currently being
removed. All books should be removed by the end of the week. Environmental
Services will then be transporting the books to Werlor for recycling.
Laura advised that Julie Rittenhouse, Public Safety Director, has
expressed concerns over who has capabilities of entering the EMA building.
Quotes for access control equipment have been obtained and grant monies are
being sought to pay for these costs. Access control equipment will keep track
of who is entering the building and at what times. The equipment would be
installed on the door that enters into the garage area.
Laura also stated that two employees will be retiring on December 31,
2007. These employees are Bob Ellsworth and Madonna Conlon.
The Commissioners then entered into Executive Session to discuss hiring
personnel. Executive Session ended with no decision being made.
Tim also reported the yearly/monthly cubic yards comparison for November
20007 is 33,503 vs. 36,792 for this same time in 2006. The yearly/monthly tons
comparison submitted for 2007 is 7,338.27 tons vs. 9,785.83 tons in November
2006. The Leachate monthly gallon total for the month of November is
533,265.00. The total year-to-date Leachate gallons is 2,839,124.00
