COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2012
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the
meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., and Stephanie Metz Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners recently received the Job Cost Accounting Report from
Defiance County Engineer Warren Schlatter for the small culverts replaced in
2012. The following County culverts were replaced at a total cost of
$86,213.56: Whetstone Road, Downing Road, Mud Creek Road, The Bend Road, Coressel Road, Power Dam Road, Trinity Road, Banner School
Road, four on Scott Road, three on Elliott Road and four on Krouse
Road. The following Township culverts were replaced at a total cost of
$115,003.59: Carpenter Road, Lockwood Road, Bostater
Road, Weichman Road, Overly Road, Brandt Road,
Vollmer Road, Egler Road, Indian Bridge Lane, two on
Moon Road, and Flickinger Road.
The Commissioners met with the VFW Board in
executive session per Ohio Revised Code Section 121.222 (G) (2) to consider the
purchase of property for public purposes. There were no decisions made in
executive session.
Tim Houck and June Crosser, Defiance County
Landfill, and Ed Merriman, Mannik & Smith Group,
met with the Commissioners to discuss the BAT Phase 3 Construction project.
This project is scheduled to be bid out in January of 2013, with construction
completed in the fall of 2013.
Tim also provided the monthly update for
November, 2012. There was $274,174.00 received in sales from 31,937 cubic yards
and 9,899.28 tons, compared to $240,781.12 in sales from 24,990 cubic yards and
8,398.69 tons in November 2011.
