DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Thomas L. Kime called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners Otto L. Nicely and James E. Harris, Jr., Laura Howell, Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

Morris Murray, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners have begun to review the increased costs for the jail and the effect it is having on the County’s budget.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren provided the Commissioners with the Accumulated Revenue Report. The accumulated revenue for 2012 was $4,118,394.44 compared to $4,088,419.87 for 2011. Warren stated that this is the best year since 2008.

 

Tod Hug and Connie Nicely, Ayersville School District, and Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic Development, met with the Commissioners and provided the impact that Enterprise Zone Agreements have on the local school districts.

 

Cecilia A. Parsons, Defiance County Recorder, recently submitted her monthly update. She reported that during the month of December, 2012, the total instruments filed were as follows: Deeds – 174; Mortgages – 222; Other Liens – 8; Releases – 240; Power of Attorney – 5; Soldiers Discharge – 1; Leases – 1. She reported total receipts of $33,960.75; of which, $16,671.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $14,725.75 went to the General Fund.
