COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’
Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio
43512. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called
the meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Laura Howell, Administrator, and Angelica Abels, Deputy Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed
the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
The Commissioners approved contracts with Aero-Mark, Inc. for the 2013
Pavement Marking for $101,070.55 and DG Slurry Seal of Toledo, Inc. in the
amount of $50,436.45 for the 2013 Crack Sealing.
Laura Howell,
Administrator, met with the Board to provide her weekly update with various
department and project updates. Laura
reported that feather flags will be once again be
placed on the lawns of the Courthouse and Courthouse Annex, Evergreen Lane
Office Complex and Defiance County East properties. The feather flags are
placed to create awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month
throughout the month of April.
Tim Houck,
Defiance County Environmental Services/Landfill Director, met with the
Commissioners for a monthly update. Tim reported $211,603.53 in sales from 6,890
tons and 23,461 cubic yards in February, compared to $207,435.43 in sales from 6,434
tons and 21,548 cubic yards in February 2012. Tim also informed the Board that
a Phase 3 BAT preconstruction session was held with Miller Brothers and the
engineer’s on Wednesday March 27, 2013. Facility crews continue to work on
removal of soils from construction areas as weather allows.
