DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner James E. Harris, Jr., Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

Otto Meyer, Jr., Randy Groll, and Bruce Colwell, Richland Township Trustees; Dennis Miller and Matt Davis, Maumee Valley Planning Organization, and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney met with the Commissioners to discuss the former SK Tools property. Maumee Valley Planning Organization will continue to look into the options.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for an update. Warren reported that work is continuing on the Hill Road bridge reconstruction and the Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road reconstruction. Warren reviewed the April 2013 Accumulated Revenue Report. The 2013 Accumulated Revenue through April was $1,34,160.04, compared to $1,366,839.53 in 2012.

 

The Commissioners recently received the Monthly Activity Report for March 2013 from Amy Galbraith, Defiance County Clerk of Courts. There were collections of $14,017.33 in legal, $23,417.98 in title, $457,096.51 in Sales or Use and Dealers’ Tax, and $2,267.75 in Watercraft Tax. There were deposits of $77,827.36 in legal and $360,897.72 in title. There were 1,936 titles issued, 519 notation of liens and 544 inspections.

 

The Commissioners recently received the Monthly Activity report for April 2013 from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder. The following instruments were filed: 175 deeds, 166 mortgages, 220 releases, 5 power of attorneys, and 4 leases. This is compared to 171 deeds, 222 mortgages, 211 releases, 5 power of attorneys, and 2 leases in April 2012. There was $26,676.50 in total receipts, of which $12,961.50 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $11,539.00 to the General Fund.
