DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

The Commissioners held interviews with the following short-list of architectural firms for the Courthouse project: Beilharz Architects, Inc.; DLZ Architecture; Garmann Miller; Poggemeyer Design Group. The Commissioners will continue to review the firms and make a decision at a later date.

The Commissioners recently received a reminder from the Ohio Department of Agriculture of the Gypsy Moth Aerial Treatments. Tentative starting date for the treatments is the week of April 16. This is subject to continued larvae and leaf development. A pre-recorded message is available by calling 614-387-0907 or 1-800-282-1955 ext. 37, after 5:00 p.m. each day that will update you as to where they are planning on treating the next day. Treatments will occur between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Signs will be posted around the treatment areas by 5:00 p.m. the day prior to treatment. State employees will be in the treatment blocks during the treatments. Local police, sheriff, and state highway patrol will be notified again by phone prior to the start of the treatments.
