DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 in the Conference
Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to
order. Also present were Commissioners
James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance
Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar
of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Tim Houck, Defiance County Environmental
Services/Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update.
Tim reported sales of $290,249.12 from 10,172.76 tons and 34,562 cubic yards in
April 2013, compared to sales of $270,707.10 from 9,078.89 tons and 30,660
cubic yards in April 2012. The Hicksville transfer station is now open two
times per month. The 2013 goal for roadside trash collection is 902.37 miles;
to date there has been 160 miles collected.
Dean Niese, Mannik & Smith Group, met with the Commissioners to
discuss the engineering services the company provides for the Defiance County
Landfill. They are currently to create a master compliance schedule for Ohio
EPA requirements for the Defiance County Landfill.
The Commissioners’ Office, along with all
other County offices, will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2013 in observance of
Memorial Day.
