DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, JUNE 10, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr, and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Fiscal Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

Morris Murray, Defiance County Prosecutor, and Russ Herman, Defiance County Assistant Prosecutor, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners certified the January Solid Waste Disposal Submittal Forms for the Landfill facilities. Defiance Township, as the host government agency received $2,192.44. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) also received $2,892.18 for the construction & demolition debris (C&DD) waste.

 

Julie Rittenhouse, Defiance County Public Safety Services Director, met with the Commissioners for an update.

 

Corey Walker, Defiance County Job & Family Services Director, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update. Corey reported that for March, 2013 there were 2,356 groups with 5,287 individuals receiving food assistance in the total amount of $606,385. This compares to 2,383 groups with 5,445 individuals receiving food assistance of $661,816 in March 2012. 6,961 individuals received $3,701,106 in Medicaid. There were 620 uses of the One Stop office. There was also $8,163 received in fraud recovery.

 

Niki Warncke, Maumee Valley Planning Organization met with the Commissioners for the Second Public Hearing for Fiscal Year 2013 CDBG Community Development Allocation Program. Bart Schwarzbek, Village of Sherwood, was in attendance. The Board approved submitting an application to the State with the following CDBG activities for the FY 2013 CDBG Community Development Allocation Program:

The Commissioners attended the joint meeting with Williams County Commissioners to approve the annual maintenance assessments for both Williams County and Defiance County maintained ditches. The Joint Board approved the 2014 maintenance assessments for both Williams County and Defiance County maintained ditches.

 

The Commissioners recently received the Defiance County Engineer’s Accumulated Revenue Report. Through May, 2013 there was $1,686,077.82 received in accumulated revenue, compared to $1,693,660.32 through May, 2012.
