DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, JULY 25, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Clerk informed the Board that on Friday, July 19, 2013 the Commissioners’ Office received a Regular Annexation petition from Stephen F. Hubbard, Hubbard Law Firm, requesting 4.165 acres of real estate in Richland Township to be annexed into the City of Defiance. The Clerk has scheduled the public hearing for the annexation petition on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Defiance County East.

 

Tim Houck, Defiance County Environmental Services/Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update. Tim reported $326,774.57 in sales from 11,500.16 tons and 39,453 cubic yards in June 2013, compared to $232,453.03 in sales from 7,424.52 tons and 25,137 cubic yards in June 2012.

 

Julie Rittenhouse, Defiance County Public Safety Services Coordinator, met with the Commissioners for a quarterly update. Julie informed the Board that Defiance County was awarded $15,976 for the SFY 2014 State Emergency Response Commission Grant.

 

The Commissioners attended the Planning Commission meeting and the Defiance County Township Trustees quarterly meeting.
