NEWS RELEASE

DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2013

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner James E. Harris, Jr., Sherry Carnahan, Fiscal Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

Timothy Doescher, Office of Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor, met with the Commissioners to introduce himself. He is the new Northwest Regional Representative and is assisting Mary Taylor with her Common Sense Initiative. The Commissioners expressed their frustration with the unfunded mandates imposed on counties by the State (i.e. Board of Elections’ costs, implementation of new dog tag laws and vicious dog laws).

Amy Hoffman, Palmer Energy Company, met with the Commissioners to provide an update on the CCAO Energy Programs. She stated that Defiance County will need to renew the government aggregation program in 2014.
