Albert Tennyson stopped
into session to apply for annexation. The Commissioners informed him that an
application for annexation needs to be done in writing, and since there are so
many requirements of the Ohio Revised Code (Section 709) that must be met, it
is recommended that landowners utilize an attorney for the annexation process.
Mr. Tennyson stated that he was informed that the Commissioners initiated the
requirement of the landowners to annex into the City of Defiance. The
Commissioners explained that they do not initiate annexations. If an annexation
petition is filed and all the requirements of the Ohio Revised Code are met,
the Commissioners MUST approve the annexation.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update. Warren
informed the Board that the work at Garden Ridge and on
Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road is continuing. Fulmer Road is now open with the base coat of
asphalt in place. The contractor has started the work on Dohoney
Road. The Highway crews are continuing to mow and are working on replacing a
culvert on Egler Road for the Adams Township
Trustees.
Vickie Meyers, Defiance
County Treasurer, met with the Commissioners to discuss bank depository
contracts. Vickie will be starting the process of requesting proposals from
interested financial institutions to be a public depository for Defiance County
