COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2013
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris,
Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
Russ Herman and
Joy O’Donnell, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the
Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed
the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update. Warren
informed the Board that the work at Garden Ridge and on
Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road is continuing. The contractor is working on roadside grading
on Hammersmith Road. The roadside grading is completed on Rosedale Road. The
site clean-up is ongoing. Once completed, the contractor will relocate to
Buckskin Road west of The Bend Road.
Greg Reinhart and
Janalee Rethmel, Defiance
County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update.
Greg reported the following repairs being done: pulled and cleaned pumps at
Defiance County’s Auglaize River Sewer pump station #7 and cleaned manhole and
wet well; pumped sludge from Evansport Wastewater Treatment Plant; sprayed
weeds at Evergreen Lane Office Complex, Middle Gordon Creek, and Auglaize River
Sewer pump stations; changed grinder pump on Oak Forest Drive; cleaned pumps at
Christy Road pump station; cleaned and backed flushed pump at Paulding County’s
Auglaize River Sewer Pump Station #3. Greg reported billing out $65,987.76;
collecting $73,683.98, and having expenses of $81,996.64 in July.
The Commissioners recently received an update on the participation of
Defiance County residents in the NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card Program.
Through July, there have been 483 residents fill 953 prescriptions for a total
savings of $11,806.75.
