COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2013
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at
8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 in the Conference Room in the
Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance,
Ohio 43512. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris,
Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Fiscal Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie
Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners attended the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce
Back-to-School Breakfast at Hicksville School.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed
the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2013 the
Commissioners’ Office received an Expedited Type 2 Annexation petition from
Stephen K. Snavely, agent for the petitioners. The
petition requests 6.922 acres in Section 11 of Noble Township to be annexed
into the City of Defiance. The Clerk will proceed with the annexation process
per Ohio Revised Code.
Jennifer Caryer, Defiance County Records Center, met with the
Commissioners to provide an update. She reported having 1,607 records requests
through July. There was $780.11 received in revenue and 55 boxes of records
received for storage.
Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Director,
met with the Commissioners for a monthly update. Tim reported receiving
$349,391.96 from 12,291.68 tons and 42,737 cubic yards in July. This compares
to $303,203.98 from 9,568.32 tons and 35,512 cubic yards in July 2012. Richard
Sargeant, Eastman & Smith, and Ed Merriman and James Hamilton, Mannik & Smith Group, joined session to discuss the
Landfill activities.
