DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioner Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

On Thursday, August 22, 2013, the Commissioners’ Office received two Expedited Type 2 Annexation petitions from Stephen Snavely, Agent for the petitioners. One is for 1.400 acres in Richland Township (in the Saunders-Snyder Addition) and the other one is for 13.050 acres in Defiance Township (Westwood Addition).

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update. Warren informed the Board that the major ditch work on Hammersmith Road has been completed and seeded; there is only minor work remaining. Work at Garden Ridge is progressing. Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road work is continuing. The intersection with Fullmer Road is now open to all traffic, and will remain open except when the paving work is ongoing. Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road is now open for school busses and emergency personnel only. The chip sealing contractor began last week. The roadside grading on Buckskin Road west of The Bend Road is to begin this week.
