DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

The Commissioners approved 3 Expedited Type 2 annexation petitions.

·         1.000 acres in Noble Township (Section 12);

·         6.000 acres in Noble Township (Section 11);

·         1.243 acres in Richland Township (Degler Addition).

 

Kevin Hancock, Defiance County Ditch Maintenance, met with the Commissioners to request permission to install a water line from an existing line at the Evergreen Lane Office Complex to the Ditch Maintenance barn. The Board approved the request.

 

Amy Galbraith and Adrian Shafer, Defiance County Clerk of Courts Office, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Defiance County employees’ United Way Campaign.

 

Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update. Tim reported that the only items remaining for the BAT construction project are electrical items and seeding. During August there were sales of $357,565.23 from 12,178.44 tons and 42,286 cubic yards; this compares to $315,470.51 in sales from 11,279.84 tons and 37,330 cubic yards in August, 2012.

 

The Committee to approve the plans for the Defiance County Courthouse met with Eric Ratts, DLZ, to discuss the Courthouse project. Eric provided a PowerPoint presentation with proposed floor layouts for discussion. After much discussion, it was determined that Eric will continue to revise the Courthouse plans and will schedule another meeting as soon as possible to review the project again.

 

On Friday, the Commissioners, along with Defiance County Recorder Cecilia Parsons, and Defiance County Engineer Warren Schlatter, will be grilling 300 burgers for the participants of the Annual Defiance County Soil & Water 6th Grade Tour of Auglaize Village.
