DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners for an update on various pending legal matters.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

The Commissioners approved an Expedited Type 2 annexation petition for 2.263 acres in Saunders-Snyder Addition in Richland Township.

 

Dean Niese, Mannik & Smith Group, and Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill Director, met with the Commissioners to discuss the Ohio EPA Director’s findings and orders for the Defiance County Landfill.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update. Warren informed the Board that the chip sealing work has been completed for the year. The paving began today on Rosedale Road. Work is continuing at the Garden Ridge site. Work began on replacing the bridge on Weber Road. Installation of driveway approaches began on the Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road project. The surface paving is scheduled to begin next week.

 

Tom Wilson, Peck Shaffer, Defiance County Treasurer Vickie Myers, and Defiance County Auditor Marlene Goodwin met with the Commissioners to sign a note for the Black Ditch in the amount of $40,000.00. This note is for two years.

 

The Commissioners held a public hearing for the annexation petition of 4.165 acres of real estate in Richland Township. Stephen F. Hubbard, agent for the petitioners, was in attendance. There was no public in attendance. The Commissioners have 30 days from the date of the public hearing to take action on the annexation petition
