DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk.

 

Judge Strausbaugh and Erin Spieth, Defiance County Juvenile/Probate, met with the Commissioners for an update on their budget. 

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

Jason Roehrig, Defiance County Soil & Water Conservation District, met with the Commissioners for a quarterly update.  Jason informed the Board that the department has provided technical assistance for: drainage improvement at Defiance County East; designed a 12” tile construction near Airport that is ready for the Engineer to approve; flooding concerns in Noble Township; drainage issues in Mark Center and Village of Sherwood. 

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update. Warren informed the Board that driveway paving Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road is complete. The Pavement Marking contractor should be done today depending on weather.  Warren stated that they are performing road side grading on Highland Center Road and working on yard tile on Thiel Road.  

 

Greg Reinhart, Defiance County Wastewater Operations Director, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update. Greg reported the following repairs being completed in September: fixed Auglaize Pines storm water line, unplugged return sludge line at Evansport Wastewater Treatment Plant, primed pump at Defiance County’s Auglaize River Sewer pump station #6 and cleaned pump at Defiance County’s Auglaize River Sewer pump station #7.  Greg reported billing out $59,701.94, collecting $59,577.02 and having expenses of $36,502.74 in September.

 

Tom Breininger, Owen Schrader and Herb Retcher, Fair Foundation, met with the Commissioners for an update.  The next phase of the grandstands project is the restrooms.    

 

Matt Gilroy, Defiance Memorial Airport, met with the Commissioners for an update.
