DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Fiscal Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

The Commissioners and Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, went to the Defiance County Highway Garage for the Annual Snow Plow Inspection. They also toured Weber Road Bridge Replacement project in Milford Township, and the improvements to Thiel Road and Rosedale Road.

The Commissioners’ Office recently received the statistics for the usage of the NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card Program for 2013. There has been 624 individuals receive 1,213 prescriptions with a total savings of $14,983.37. For the same time period in 2012 there were 958 individuals that received 1,974 prescriptions with a total savings of $21,589.56. The NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card Program is available to all residents of Defiance County. The residents must provide a FREE Prescription Discount Card at a participating retail pharmacy and save an average of 20% on the prescription medicine. There is no enrollment form, no membership fee and has immediate usage. The prescription discount card can be used any time the prescription is not covered by insurance. There are no restrictions and no limits on how many times the card may be used.
