DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Lanie Lambert, Deputy Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update.  Warren reviewed the 2013 Accumulated Revenue Report. Through September the Accumulated Revenue was $3,437,765.46. This compares to $3,488,608.42 for 2012. Warren reported that Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road was to open Monday morning. The only item that needs completed for the project is the guardrail installation. The deck of the Weber Road bridge is scheduled to be poured on Tuesday.

 

The Commissioners held the Defiance/Paulding County Consolidated Job & Family Services Board meeting.  For July 2013 there were 2,694 individuals that received $316,924 in food assistance in Paulding County; there were 5,090 individuals that received $589,262 in food assistance in Defiance County.

 

The Commissioners held budget hearings for Wastewater Operations and Child Support Enforcement Agency.

 

The Commissioners’ Office recently received the monthly report for September 2013 from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance County Recorder. Cecilia reported the following instruments recorded: 178 deeds, 143 mortgages, 146 releases, 9 powers of attorney, and 1 plat. This compares to 158 deeds, 145 mortgages, 149 releases and 6 powers of attorney in September 2012. There was $23,971.95 in receipts for September 2013, of which $11,689.10 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $10,378.85 went to the General Fund. This compares to $23,973.25 in receipts in September 2012, of which $11,653.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $10,484.25 went to the General Fund.
