DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 in the Hicksville Village Council Room, Hicksville, Ohio.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Fiscal Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents.  The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.

 

The Commissioners approved a Regular Annexation Petition of 0.332 acres of real estate in Richland Township (Saunders-Snyder Addition) into the City of Defiance.

 

The Commissioners’ Office received notification that the Four County Solid Waste District (Defiance, Fulton, Paulding and Williams Counties), North Star BlueScope Steel LLC, and Lafarge are working together for the Household Hazardous Waste Day 2013. North Star BlueScope Steel LLC will be sponsoring a household hazardous waste collection drive on Saturday November 16, 2013, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. You can bring your wastes to the plant entrances and will be directed to the drop off location. North Star BlueScope Steel LLC is located at 6767 County Rd. 9, Delta, Ohio 43515.

The following materials will be accepted: Scrap Metal, Automotive Batteries, Electronics, Paint and Paint Products, Mercury, Lighter Fluid, Propane Cylinders, Kerosene, Aerosols, Fluorescent Tubes, Pool Chemicals, Pesticides/Herbicides, Medial Sharps, Oxidizers, Corrosives- Acids, Over the Counter Medicine (EXPIRED), Light bulbs, Corrosives- Base, Fire Extinguishers, Oil, Furniture Polish, Smoke Detectors, Antifreeze, Floor Care Products, Fuel, Gasoline.

 

The following materials will NOT be accepted: Ammunition or Explosives, Construction Materials or Debris, Miscellaneous Car Parts, Appliances, Air Conditioning Units, Radioactive Material, Shock-Sensitive Materials, Standard Household Trash or Yard Waste, Infectious Medical Waste. No materials from businesses or government agencies will be accepted.

The Commissioners held the budget hearings for the following: Senior Services, Sheriff’s Department, E-911, Recorder, Auditor, and Probate/Juvenile Court.
