DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2013

 

The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 in the Conference Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512.  Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order.  Also present were Commissioners James E. Harris, Jr. and Thomas L. Kime, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.

 

The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.  The Commissioners approved the 2014 Holiday schedule:

New Year’s Eve (CLOSE AT NOON)

 

John Fifer and Lavon Wiles, Fairboard, met with the Commissioners to discuss needed electrical and waterline repairs at the Fairgrounds. A plan and quotes for the waterline replacement is to be provided by the Fairboard before the Commissioners will make a decision regarding their monetary contribution for the repairs.

 

Warren Schlatter, Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners for a weekly update.  Warren informed the Board that the guardrail is being installed on Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Road. Weber Road bridge replacement will be finished this week and the road will be re-opened.

 

Jan Rethmel, Defiance County Wastewater Operations, met with the Commissioners for a monthly update. Greg Reinhart, Defiance County Wastewater Operations Director, was not available due to power outages in the Auglaize River Sewer System. Jan reported the following maintenance items being completed in October: replaced dehumidifier at Express Sewer pump station; primed and cleaned pump at Paulding County’s Auglaize Sewer pump station #7; pulled and cleaned pumps at Christy pump station; changed a grinder pump on Mirival Lane; fixed pressure leak on Stone Gate Lane; winterized all plants and pump stations; cleaned wells at multiple Auglaize Sewer pump stations and DMP. She reported billing out $59,656.74, collecting $58,961.99, and having expenses of $44,071.69 in October.

 

The Commissioners held budget hearings for Environmental Services, Coroner, Dog Warden, Prosecuting Attorney, Common Pleas Court, and Municipal Court.
