DEFIANCE
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2013
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners met in regular session at 8:30
a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 in the Hicksville Village Council Room,
Hicksville, Ohio. Chairman Otto L. Nicely called the meeting to order. Also present were Commissioner Thomas L. Kime, Sherry
Carnahan, Fiscal Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
The Commissioners met in General Session and approved and signed
various resolutions, contracts and documents.
The Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed
upcoming meetings.
Isaac Lee and
Erica Noggle, Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce, met
with the Commissioners for a quarterly update.
Larry Woods, Ginny
Shrimplin and Sherry Barbosky, CORSA, met with the Commissioners to provide an
update. The Commissioners utilize CORSA for the County’s liability insurance.
The Commissioners
met with the Health Insurance Committee to discuss the 2014 employee health
insurance.
There will be no
session on Monday, December 9, 2013, due to the Commissioners attending
CCAO/CEAO Winter Conference.
2014 Dog and
Kennel Licenses are now available for purchase. They can be purchased at the
Defiance County Auditor’s Office, Hicksville Police Department, Fort Defiance Humane Society all year. Defiance
Area Animal Hospital, Jewell Grain, Ayersville Carryout and Town and Country
Pets in December and January. You can also purchase them online at: http://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Defiance/. The costs for 2014 Dog and Kennel Licenses

The Commissioners’
Office recently received the monthly update from Cecilia Parsons, Defiance
County Recorder. Cecilia reported the following instruments being recorded in
November: deeds – 157; mortgages – 162; releases – 125; power of attorneys – 9;
leases – 1; this compares to November 2012 – deeds – 143; mortgages – 198;
releases – 223; power of attorneys – 12. There were total receipts of
$23,392.75, of which $11,321.00 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $10,259.75
went to the General Fund; this compares to November 2012’s total receipts of
$29,321.50, of which $14,287.50 went to the Housing Trust Fund and $12,714.00
went to the General Fund.
