The Commissioners
recently informed the County employees of increases to the employee’s share of
the employee health insurance. The County has experienced a significant
increase in the reinsurance premiums and administrative costs of the health
insurance. In past years, the General Fund has absorbed some of the increases
and not passed them onto the employees. The fund can no longer absorb the
increases. The Board recently met with the Insurance Committee members and
discussed the increases. The Committee agreed with the following changes for
2014:
· The
deductible was increased from $200 single/$400 family to $500 single/$1,000
family.
· The
maximum out of pocket was increased from $750 single/$1,500 family to $1,050
single/$2,100 family.
· The
new monthly employee share rates increased by 10%.
The Commissioners’
Office is closing at Noon on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 and will also be closed
on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in observance of Christmas.
