DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
THURSDAY,
MAY 21, 2015
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 in the Conference
Room in the Commissioners’ Office at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Thomas L. Kime called the
meeting to order. Also present were
Commissioners Ryan Mack, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and Stephanie
Metz, Clerk.
Judge Strausbaugh and Erin Spieth, Defiance
County Juvenile Probation, met with the Commissioners to introduce the new
Program Director, Katie Polzin.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The
Commissioners also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming
meetings.
Tina Hiler, Defiance County Senior Services’
Director, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update. Tina informed
the Board that 150-200 seniors attended the “For the Health of It”
informational fair and 200 seniors attended the Senior Prom. Tina informed the
Board that the Old Timer’s Bike Ride will be Saturday, June 20th.
Tim Houck, Defiance County Landfill
Director, met with the Commissioners to introduce the Landfill’s consultant
team of: Dick Sargeant and Dave Nunn, Eastman & Smith; Hugh Downer, Eagon and Associates; and Ed Merriman, Mannik & Smith.
Randy Vogel, Defiance County Dog Warden, met
with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update. Randy reported that there
were 81 complaints in April, which resulted in 8 citations being issued, 16
warnings being written and 12 dogs taken to the shelter. There were 3,821 miles
driven and $425.00 received in Municipal Court fines.
Jerry Hayes, Defiance County Economic
Development Director, met with the Commissioners to provide a monthly update.
The
Commissioners’ Office recently received the monthly report from Connie
Bostelman, Defiance County Child Support Enforcement Agency. There were collections
of $596,002.00 and expenditures of $54,385.66 from 2,727 cases in April. This
compares to collections of $582,748.00 and expenditures of $56,884.06 from
2,738 cases in April, 2014.
The
Commissioners’ Office will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2015 in observance of
Memorial Day.
