DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY,
AUGUST 3, 2015
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2015 in the Conference
Room in the Commissioners’ conference at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Thomas L. Kime called the
meeting to order. Also present were Commissioner
Ryan Mack and Otto L. Nicely, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator,
and Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting
Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to discuss pending and imminent
legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners
also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly
update. Warren informed the Board that Gerken Paving, Inc. has started the
widening of Harris Road; Ward Construction Co. has started the chip sealing.
Roadside grading is to begin on Openlander Road and
Powers Road/Krouse Road areas.
Rick Weaver,
Ellen Smith, and Ryan Shrack, Maumee Valley Planning
Organization, met with the Commissioners, Defiance City Mayor
Armstrong, and Warren Schlatter to discuss implementing a Transportation
Improvement District. The Board will begin the process of establishing
County-wide Transportation Improvement District.
Ron Cereghin,
Defiance County Maintenance Supervisor, met with the Commissioners to discuss
the Courthouse. Ron informed the Board that the air conditioning units for
portions of the Courthouse were being installed; crews continue to work on the
interior of the first floor.
