DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY,
OCTOBER 26, 2015
The Board of Defiance County Commissioners
met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 in the
Conference Room in the Commissioners’ conference at 500 Court Street, Suite A, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Commissioner Thomas L. Kime called the
meeting to order. Also present were Commissioners
Ryan Mack and Otto L. Nicely, Sherry Carnahan, Finance Manager/Administrator, and
Stephanie Metz, Clerk.
Russ Herman, Defiance County Prosecuting
Attorney’s Office, met with the Commissioners to discuss pending and imminent
legal matters.
The Commissioners met in General Session and
approved and signed various resolutions, contracts and documents. The Commissioners
also reviewed the calendar of events and discussed upcoming meetings.
Warren Schlatter,
Defiance County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to provide a weekly update
and for a bid opening for the Spring 2016 Defiance
County Aerial Photography project. Warren reported that they crew is forming
the deck for the Openlander Road bridge. The curb is
currently being poured for the extension of Hicksville’s Industrial Drive, and
weather permitting; paving is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
The Pre-bid
estimate for the project was $80,000.00. The following bids were received: Kucera International, Inc. - $36,000.00; and Sanborn Map
Company - $33,311.14. The Commissioners took the bids under advisement and will
award at a later date. This project is to obtain 6” pixel, color aerial
photography to be collected in the Spring of 2016 for
the Defiance County Auditor’s Office. In 2010, the County paid for 6” pixel
color aerial photography; in 2012 the State completed a project for 1’ pixel
color aerial photography.
Tim Colchin, DLZ
Architecture, met with the Commissioners to discuss the exterior Courthouse
Project. Tim will be making the necessary revisions to the bid plans and
specifications with the intent to have the bids available to interested
contractors in December, 2015.
The Commissioners
attended the Four County Solid Waste District Board of Directors’ meeting and
the Four County Joint Board meeting in Fulton County.
On Sunday, the
Commissioners attended the Dedication Ceremony for new monuments at the County
Home Cemetery, formerly known as Shady Acres Cemetery, on Evansport Road. The
Commissioners would like to thank the Defiance Area Foundation and the
Daughters of the American Revolution for funding the new monuments.
